MAPLE APPLE PIE
- 1 premade pie crust
- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 5 tbsp COLD butter, cut into cubes
- 6 cups apples, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 6 tbsp maple syrup, divided
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
Preheat oven to 400. Cook pie crust for 15 minutes, place on wire rack.
Change temperature on the oven to 350.
Combine white sugar and flour in a food processer, add cubes of butter until combined. Set aside.
Slice apples and toss with lemon juice and brown sugar. Add melted butter and 3 tbsp maple syrup. Add to pre-baked pie crust, pressing in to make it all fit.
Place pie tin in a baking sheet. Drizzle remaining 3 tbsp of maple syrup over apples. Cover top of pie with crumble from the food processor.
Cover pie loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for 40-50 minutes. Crumble top should be golden brown and filling should be bubbling, more time may need to be added, so check every few minutes.
Remove pie from oven and let cool for two hours. Serve as is or with ice cream.
